Professional triathlete, Antoanela Mănac started practicing sports at a very young age. At just five years old, her parents introduced her to swimming, an event which led her towards her life’s passion. Antonanela is now the highest ranked female Romanian triathlon athlete. She has achieved considerable success in her home nation, having won her seventh consecutive National Triathlon Championships title in 2022, as well as becoming Romania’s Aquathlon champion and continuing her reign as the country’s Duathlon champion. 

2022 also saw Antoanela adopt a brand-new training system, implemented by her new coach. The aim of this stringent training regime was to enable Antoanela to compete in bigger tournaments than ever, against the world’s best opposition. This bore fruit in the 2022 World Aquathlon Championships in Slovakia, where Antoanela rubbed shoulders with the very best and finished in third place. 

The next 12 months is set to be even busier, with two great results already achieved at the semi marathon in Bucharest and Continental Cup races in Venezuela.  The remainder of the year includes events such as the World Aquathlon Championships in Ibiza, the European and World Triathlon Championships in Madrid, the Aquathlon World Championships in Bali, the National Triathlon Championships in Romania, and the European Games in Krakow, Poland. Keep an eye out for Antoanela’s next races in the Asian Cup on the 1^st and 8^th April in Nepal and China, respectively, where she will be competing in sprint distance and Olympic distance events.
