About Joonas Lember
Estonian-born powerboat racer, Joonas Lember is a defending world champion of the sport. Born in Tallinn and raised in a small coastal village nearby, Joonas dedicates time outside of his studies to refining his racing technique. Just like his father, Joonas has found his true passion in powerboat racing, with a career that began at the age of 12.
Joonas secured his first medal at the European Championships in 2019, taking home a bronze. This was closely followed by a silver medal at the GT-15 World Championship in 2020 and then a further silver at the European Championships in 2021.
2021 continued to mark success for Joonas, as he demonstrated his abilities throughout several major events. Despite it being his first year of racing in the F-125 class, he was not only crowned the Baltic champion, but also came second at the Estonian Championships. Additionally, a fourth-place finish at the F-125 World Championships series only brought him closer in his journey to becoming a World Champion.
Joonas began 2022 strongly, with his first Grand Prix win at the World Championships in the Czech Republic. In September of the same year, he was crowned World Champion of the F-125 powerboat racing class – the ultimate competition for this class of powerboat racing.
This year’s calendar of events sees Joonas preparing for a packed season, aiming to defend his World Champion title in an increasingly competitive environment. Starting in Jedovnice, Czech Republic, his first major competition – the Formula 125 World Championship – will take place from May to September and will tour several European countries. The Formula 125 Baltic Championship will follow in late August, and his racing season will draw to a close with the Formula 125 European Championship at the end of September.
