Daimler Truck Specification Updates

Daimler Truck Specification Updates Daimler Truck Specification Updates

Up until recently, Daimler AG had been a household name across the automotive sector for well over a decade. In late 2021, this changed when Daimler AG split into two separate businesses, Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Daimler Truck Holding AG

Please note that this means that the two new entities now have distinct specifications. Mercedes-Benz Group AG will focus on passenger cars and vans, while Daimler Truck Holding AG will oversee commercial vehicles.

This new format came into effect on April 1st 2023. These new specifications will apply to all new approval applications and renewals – existing approvals are also being transitioned to the new format.

Please be aware that the specifications put in place by Daimler Truck Holding AG will be the DTFR number, as opposed to the old format, which instead emphasised the MB number. The approvals will be shown in their new format and this information will be updated on materials and product labels; this will take some time to be completed.

The first Chevron DTFR approvals have already been processed and will start to appear on PDS soon before being added to other materials as they are updated. A deadline of November 2024 has been set for labels to be updated. During an initial transition phase, every approval that is available for renewal will be renewed by March 31st 2024, labels will be updated before November 2024.

This updated format only applies to commercial vehicles – the format of approval for passenger cars and vans will remain unchanged.

The differences between the previous approvals and the new format only apply to administration and formatting; there is no technical difference. The table below compares some examples of the old MB format with examples of the new DTFR specification.
