Texaco HDAX gas engine oils help support biogas, CHP and landfill gas operations
Texaco’s HDAX gas engine oil range is helping operators across Europe to optimise gas engine performance, extend oil drain intervals, and support operational reliability in demanding applications. Across biogas plants, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, and landfill gas projects, Texaco HDAX products have helped to foster strong oxidation control, deposit management, and long-life performance. Biogas operation, Germany
At a biogas operation in Germany, operators sought to improve oil drain intervals and maintain stable engine performance in a flexible-load environment. Following the introduction of Texaco HDAX 9200 in an MWM TCG 3016 V12 engine, oil drain intervals increased from approximately 2,800 operating hours to more than 5,000 hours while maintaining stable oxidation values and engine performance.
Working alongside Texaco’s technical support team and implementing regular oil analysis and structured maintenance procedures, the operator also benefited from reduced oxidation, improved engine cleanliness, and optimal operating temperatures. The operation reported consistent analysis results and stable long-term engine performance, helping to maximise uptime and reduce maintenance demands.
CHP service provider, Germany
For several years, one of Germany’s leading CHP service providers has relied on lubricants from Texaco Lubricants to support the operation and servicing of gas engines across its extensive customer network. Having already incorporated the Texaco HDAX 6500 and 9200 ranges into its operation, the company participated in endurance testing of Texaco HDAX 9300 in MWM TCG and Caterpillar CG gas engines.
During testing, engines completed 6,000 operating hours using Texaco HDAX 9300 while undergoing continuous monitoring and regular oil analysis. Inspections throughout the trial demonstrated clean pistons and cylinder surfaces, minimal deposits, and operating and wear levels in line with manufacturer specifications.
The operator highlighted the product’s low oxidation performance, prolonged TBN stability, and ability to align with maintenance schedules, helping to avoid unnecessary downtime and reduce operating costs. Following the successful field trial, Texaco HDAX 9300 received approval for use in MWM TCG 3016 engines.
Landfill gas project, Serbia
Another product within the HDAX range to stand out is Texaco HDAX 6500 LFG, which played an important role in a major landfill redevelopment and waste-to-energy project in Serbia. The product was used in Caterpillar stationary gas engines to help support the conversion of landfill gases into electricity.
In addition to Texaco HDAX 65000 LFG making an impact, Texaco’s local distributor demonstrated the quality, reliability and operational support required for the demanding application. Having established its expertise, the business was also able to leverage Texaco’s technical support, oil analysis services, and training capabilities, which helped support implementation and ongoing operation.
The project contributes to the transformation of one of Europe’s largest unmanaged landfill sites into a modern waste management and energy generation facility, helping to support long-term environmental and operational goals.
