Texaco people profile: Michael Guelck

I have worked in the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) sector for 36 years. During this time, I’ve travelled to more than 53 countries, and for the last 26 years, I have hosted many international training courses, lectures, and webinars. CHP technology is a passion of mine, whether it is lubrication, electrical integration, hydraulic problems, CHP management systems, damage analysis or economic considerations, I am always available to customers and partners to provide expert advice and effective solutions.

What do you believe Texaco has to offer customers?

We pride ourselves on offering the best technical service and support possible to make engines more reliable and to operate with better profitability for customers.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the industry at the moment?

Currently, there are multiple challenges for customers to consider, including shortened lifetimes on components like catalysts, cylinder heads and exhaust heat exchanger to oxidation (heat problems) and issues with total base number (TBN) (a measure of the alkaline concentration present in a lubricant).  However, I firmly believe that Texaco can help by providing the right products, additives, and technical assistance.

Who do you most admire and why?

I could list many individuals, but one of my favourite quotes from the basketball legend, Michael Jordan, sums up my philosophy: “I can accept failure. Everyone fails at something. But I can´t accept not trying…”
