What credentials / experience do you have?

I graduated from the University of Brussels 25 years ago with an MBA in economics. Soon after, I started my career in the oil industry as a sales representative. From there, I quickly became the Retail Manager for Texaco fuels sites in Belgium and Luxembourg. Several expat assignments followed and that helped enhance my career, allowing me to meet great people around the world. I joined the Texaco Lubricants business in a sales capacity in 2008 and then managed the direct sales team in Europe. In 2022, I became Marketing Manager for Europe, a role that continues to give me a lot of opportunities to learn and increase my knowledge of the sector.

What do you believe Texaco has to offer customers?

Texaco offers a wide range of products and services to help meet customers’ needs. We provide high-quality lubricants specifically designed to enhance the performance, efficiency, and lifespan of various types of engines and machinery. Texaco offers several benefits such as improved fuel efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, and improved engine protection.  In addition, Texaco provides technical support, expertise and is very close to its customers. I’d like to summarise this by saying Texaco is “a global company with very strong local expertise”.

What is your most rewarding project to date?

My expat assignment in Reunion/Mauritius Islands as Country Chairman was a rewarding and challenging project. It was necessary to rebuild the entire organisation, which involved both the lubricants and aviation businesses. I led, managed, and developed retail, commercial and industrial and LPG business units, including recruitment, training, and other strategies to drive the company to success.  We achieved exceptional results, and it became a highly profitable region.

What piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in your industry?

Take the time to educate yourself about lubricants and stay up to date with industry trends. Network and collaborate by engaging with professionals and experts. Stay curious and don’t be afraid to make mistakes, as every mistake drives you toward important learning opportunities. Be driven by your ethics and honesty and believe in the company you are working for. Building a successful career in our industry takes time and dedication, so, stay passionate and always aim to exceed customer expectations.
