Shining the light on…Texaco Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30

This time, we look at Texaco Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30, a premium performance synthetic mid-SAPS engine lubricant that offers motorists a range of benefits.
What exactly is it?
Suitable for both gasoline and diesel passenger cars, as well as light duty commercial diesel engines, Texaco Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30 is a premium performance synthetic mid-SAPS engine oil that has been specially formulated with advanced technology additives to meet demanding OEM specifications. The engine oil is compatible with diesel particulate filters (DPF) and gasoline three-way catalyst (TWC) exhaust aftertreatment systems.
What does this mean for you?
The product’s premium mid-SAPS formulation helps to offer reduced exhaust emissions, along with an extended DPF and TWC performance and service life. For drivers concerned with maximising service intervals and keeping costs low, Texaco Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30 is a strong choice – its advanced synthetic design promotes engine protection over extended drain intervals.
The oil’s efficient keep-clean additive technology also helps to reduce harmful deposit and sludge formation, helping to extend engine life as a result. In addition, the product’s robust synthetic base oil formulation helps to offer reduced engine oil volatility and helps to minimise oil consumption. Another feature of its formulation is its capacity to help provide dependable low temperature fluidity, rapid oil circulation, and effective engine protection during cold start-up.
Which vehicles should it be used on?
Fortunately, Texaco Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30 is suitable for a wide range of gasoline and diesel passenger cars or light diesel vans – with or without turbochargers – and is specially designed for extended drain intervals in Europe. The engine oil combines industry specifications C3 and C2.
In particular, Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30 is recommended for vehicles requiring Mercedes-Benz 229.52 approved engine oil, and is backwards compatible with Mercedes-Benz 229.51 and Mercedes-Benz 229.31 engine oil specifications.
What’s more, Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30 is also recommended for GM diesel and gasoline engines in Europe. Oils meeting GM dexos2 are required for vehicles manufactured from the 2011 model year onwards, but they are also backwards compatible with older models.
Have any other manufacturers approved of its use?
The oil and all of its benefits are supported by a series of approvals from key manufacturers, including Volkswagen’s VW 505 00/505 01 approval. In addition, the product is suitable for use in Opel/Vauxhall* engines requiring OV0401547.
Please note that Havoline ProDS M SAE 5W-30 is unsuitable for some engines. If you have any doubts about which engine oil is suitable for your vehicle, refer to your owner’s manual or handbook.
