About George

George Christoforou, also known as Ela Koko in the motorsport community, grew up around high-performance cars in his native Cyprus thanks to his father’s passion for motorsports.

From a very young age George learned how to repair cars before earning his Automotive Engineering diploma. Following in his father’s footsteps, George’s passion for racing has seen him compete in drag racing, hill climbs, circuit racing and finally drifting – his true calling. Throughout his career, George has balanced working as a mechanic for both road and race cars, as well as pursuing his racing.

George’s nickname “Ela Koko” comes from the Greek phrase which directly translates as “Come on Koko”. “It’s common for Cypriots to call people named George, Koko as a nickname. His catchy nickname stuck when people began cheering Ela Koko to him from the stands at the track.

George has since built, maintained, and raced his own professional drift car and managed his own racing program. He has won multiple Cypriot championships over the past 10 years, making him the top driver on the island, and has travelled around the world to compete including Greece, the UK, Latvia, Estonia, Istanbul, and Japan.

With a new top spec race car and a full diary of races at events in Cyprus, Greece, and Hungary, 2022 is set to be another exciting year for George and his many supporters.
